Myofunctional Therapy

What is Myofunctional Therapy?

Myofunctional therapy is a type of exercise therapy. Consider it similar to physical therapy, but for the muscles of the mouth, tongue, and face. The exercises are particularly intended to develop optimal breathing, speaking, chewing, and swallowing techniques. Improper habits, believe it or not, can lead to a slew of health issues and illnesses, including:

  • Sleep Apnea
  • Snoring
  • Upper Airway Resistance Syndrome
  • Orthodontic relapse
  • TMJ pain
  • Headaches, neck pain and other facial pains
  • Systemic conditions including heart problems, high blood pressure, foggy brain, memory problems, aches and pains, and more.

Proper breathing is one of the key objectives of myofunctional therapy. Better breathing will benefit a variety of health concerns. Myofunctional therapy is a completely safe, non-surgical treatment that can help you become a better version of yourself. There are no disadvantages to better breathing and swallowing!
